Welcome to Mawana
Imagine yourself stalking through a Game Reserve that has laid untouched for over seven years, its rough natural beauty complimented by a depth and variety of game species of exceptional quality. Set amongst rolling grasslands leading to gentle koppies, Mawana takes its name from the local Mountain which dominates the horizon.
Mawana also features a river which has several dams within the estate, one of which has been stocked with Bass, another home to Mawana's Hippo and a regular haunt for their Elephants, but surrounding this area are countless game species that until now have never been hunted!
Mawana Game Reserve is located deep within Kwazulu Natal and since it has its own airstrip, airport transfers don't need to be a drama - and what a way to start your adventure! Set in over ten thousand hectares and with the same again to stalk over, Mawana is a former cattle farm that ceased its beef production some seven years ago. Kerneels Van Der Walt, owner of Mawana began stocking Mawana with local indigenous game species and then allowed nature to reclaim the territory and today its splendour is second to none in South Africa.
